Prague

Participation in the PORG Model United Nations does not only offer you the opportunity to take part in top-level discussions, but also to explore the exquisite city and the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague.

Prague, being the largest city in the Czech Republic, is home to over 1.3 million residents and although its oldest masonry foundations date back to circa 885, Prague successfully preserved its cultural and architectural history, offering unique sights and memories; among those are several world-famous tourist attractions such as the Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, Petřín Hill, Jewish Quarter, and many more. From Romanesque and Gothic to Art Nouveau architecture, Prague has it all. Due to the fact that 20th century warfare almost entirely avoided damaging its cultural heritage, Prague is now one of the few European cities that can claim to have something for everyone.

Throughout history, Prague has always been one of the most significant cities in Europe. Although subjugated to foreign rule for more than three centuries, Habsburg and Austrian influence in general did not impact Prague's leading position on the cultural and social superiority list. Being a home to world-renowned artists such as Franz Kafka, Bedřich Smetana, or Miloš Forman, and having over ten major museums, numerous theatres, galleries and cinemas, Prague offers opportunities that will certainly satisfy any and all intellectual cravings.
